Rabbi Fred Raskind
Rabbi Fred Raskind was born and raised in Boston. After graduating from Boston University, he attended Columbia University, where he studied philosophy and comparative religion. He has taken coursework in 3 Christian Divinity Schools. After being ordained by Hebrew Union College in NYC, Rabbi Raskind served Temples in Greenville SC, and in Athens GA, along with the Jewish College Campus Ministry.
For 15 years, the Rabbi commuted from Atlanta to serve part-time small congregations in Gadsden, AL, and then in Anniston, AL. He has been involved in interfaith and outreach work throughout his career. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia, he started a private practice in pastoral, family, and career counseling. Rabbi Raskind advised and helped start two congregations in the Atlanta area.
In 1999, he moved to FL, where he served congregations in Vero Beach, and then in Hollywood.
He arrived in Hagerstown in August 2003 to become Rabbi of Congregation B’nai Abraham.
